Seaweed is a quick and easy snack that is tasty and has been found to be extremely beneficial to consume during pregnancy. It is loaded with vital nutrients and antioxidants that are beneficial to both momma and her growing baby. It is an abundant source of omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin C and iodine. Iodine is essential for healthy brain development in the fetus and not getting enough can cause potentially scary side effects.

Prior to adding to your diet, it is recommended you speak with your physician, as there are different types of seaweed and every women’s pregnancy is unique. As per our recommendation, we prefer green seaweed, and consume it in a variety of ways.

Ways to eat:

  1. Roasted Seaweed Snacks- available pre-packaged at your local health food stores.
  2. Seaweed salad.
  3. Topped any Asian style dish, like ramen.
