Did you use ovulation tracking to help you get pregnant or to avoid getting pregnant? ⁣⁣⁣

What is ovulation tracking?

Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary. The egg then moves down the fallopian tube where it can be fertilized.

How do you know when you’re ovulating?

Ovulation occurs about 14 days before your period starts. To discover when you ovulate you have to track your cycle first. If your cycle is 28 days, you will ovulate right around Day 14 of your cycle. To discover when you are ovulating you must track your cycle and be somewhat regular for accurate results.

What is is cervical mucus? 

A few days before you ovulate you may notice your vaginal mucus becomes clear, slick, and slippery and feels like the consistency of an egg white. This is a sign you are about to ovulate and it’s the best time to have sex if you want to get pregnant.

Timely Sex + Ovulation

Your fertile window is defined as the period of time where you have the best chance to conceive. This is about 24-48 hours long. The more amount of time on either side of that window that passes your chances of getting pregnant continue to decrease.

Let’s recap a few key points about ovulation tracking:

⁣⁣⁣
1) It’s only possible to get pregnant during your fertile window and that happens about midway through your cycle (day 14 for a 28 day-cycle). This is your most fertile time and it lasts about 48 hours. Everything on either side of the window and your chances of getting pregnant decrease significantly.⁣⁣⁣

2) There are signs that you are ovulating, like the cervical mucus test and your body temperature. If you like lots of data points and keeping track of things diligently, you can do this manually.
