This is Episode 033, We Need To Talk About Infertility with Nathalie Carpenter.

In this episode Sarah talks with Nathalie from the blog Fertilust. Nathalie is a brand marketer who went through unexplained infertility and set out to redefine the conversation around infertility on her blog, Fertilust.

In February 2017, Nathalie was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Here were some her stats:

  • 3 years of trying to conceive

  • 2 unsuccessful IUIs

  • 2 unsuccessful IVFs

  • 2 major pity party episodes

  • 5 reproductive endocrinologists

  • A third and successful IVF!

In the episode, Nathalie goes into detail on her IVF / IUI process, the emotions that accompany unexplained infertility, and the importance of sharing your journey and experience with others.

09:06 – the girls discuss getting a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which is imaging test that is used to examine the cavity of the uterus and Fallopian tubes.

10:17 – Nathalie has seen 6 doctors throughout 2 IUIs and 4 IVF cycles to date. The first four treatments (2 IUIs and 2 IVF) failed and then she saw success with the third round with her first and only embryo. She is currently undergoing a 4th IVF cycle.
